Belgian Junior/Young Rider Chef d'Equipe Leo Joosten took three of his team members across the North Sea for the CDI Soley at Aston Farm in Circenster, Great Britain, April 10 - 11, 2002

The trip to Great Britain started with a serious set back. Young Rider Barbara Dipietrantanio fell off her horse during a training session previous to the CDI and her injuries prevented her from travelling to England.

Junior Riders Leen Cools and Valerie Verellen did an excellent job in their division. Cools scored 66.10% in the team championship test and placed fourth. Verellen received 64.57% and finished seventh.

In the individual test, Cools rode 64.95% with her Belgian warmblood gelding Le Primo van het Gestelhof and placed fourth again. Verellen and her Hanoverian gelding Wise Guy van de Zuuthoeve got 64.50% and placed sixth.

Hannelore Volders was the only Belgian Young Rider at Aston Farm and had to beat up against English, Dutch, German, French and Irish combinations. With her Dutch warmblood gelding Jakko she rode 66.75% in the team championship test and placed fifth. Her individual test was even better as 67.32% ranked her third. German Marisa Reimann won that class.

The next CDI-JYR is at Vilhelmsborg in Aarhus, Denmark. Three junior riders, Valerie Verellen, Leen Cools and Arnaud Reper have registered for entry, and three young riders, Delphine Meiresonne, Hannelore Volders and Ruth van Campen will join them to Denmark. Belgian Pony chef d'equipe Carine Godefroid selected Leslie Goethals, Yoni de Souter, Sakina van Dijck, Caroline Bommers and Joke de Belder for participation at this Danish Youth Rider Festival.
