Sir Lui van de Zuuthoeve Passed Away

Yet another Belgian FEI dressage horse has passed away. Sir Lui van de Zuuthoeve, the Oldenburg Reserve Licensing champion died on Friday June 2 of a heart attack.

Sir Lui van de Zuuthoeve (by Silvio) was owned by Rene Vets of De Zuuthoeve in Lier. The stallion was breeding when he got a heart attack, collapsed and died.

Sir Lui was competed at Prix St Georges level and had a huge string of riders that rode him, like for instance Wim Verwimp, Philippe Jorissen, Tom Franckx. His last rider was the Belgian former young rider Katrien Verreet who had some nice successes with him at national shows.

It is the second time that Verreet loses her FEI horse. Six years ago her young riders horse Prins Donner died right before the European Championships. This second loss is a big blow for Verreet.
