| Belgian Young Riders Make a Stand at the 2005 European Championships in Barzago, Italy |
Two Belgian teams travelled to the 2005 European Junior and Young Riders Championships in Barzago, Italy, last weekend. The inexperienced junior riders' team was not able to rise to the occasion and achieve their personal best scores at the Championships. They put in decent rides earning low 60 marks.They highest placed Belgian Junior Rider was Melodia Michaux on Tobino van de Zuuthoeve; They placed 16th in the Consolation Finals with 64.762%. The more experienced Belgian Young Riders, on the other hand, were able to make a stand with two combinations in the Individual finals. Routinier Arnaud Reper was the best Belgian performer with an 11th place overall in the Championships. Julie de Deken followed closely in Reper's footsteps and finished in a 14th place overall. Fanny Verliefden and Rubel finished 8th in the Consolation Finals. Newcomer Leslie Goethals ranked 13th in the Consolation Finals with Berkel I Dancer.
