Three Top German Dressage Stallions Sold to Belgium

Alabaster coltAt the 2003 Oldenburg and Hanoverian Stallion Licensing, three top licensed young dressage stallions have been sold to Belgium. Not only does this mean that Belgium has three new exciting sport horses on the market, but finally some interesting and wanted dressage bloodlines have been imported into our country.

Jasmin and Wouter Smeets from Hasselt purchased the licensed Alabaster x Brentano II x Weltmeyer colt at the 2003 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing in Verden. The chestnut colt is an exceptional mover and carries most praised Hanoverian bloodlines in his pedigree. Alabaster was a Bundeschampionate champion under Johannes Westendarp, Brentano II has been named Hanoverian Sire of the Year 2003 and produced top Grand Prix horses such as Brentina and Barclay. Foundation stallion Weltmeyer is the most valuable sire for the Hanoverian verband to date.

" We bought this colt in order to present him at the NRPS and SBS stallion licensing," Wouter Smeets explained. "We will also be taking him to Germany, where he will be ridden by Kris de Doncker and hopfeully he'll qualify for the Bundeschampionate."

Wouter and Jasmin Smeets only started their business early October 2003, as the young couple took over the farm from Smeets Senior. "We already had the stallion Rio van de Zuuthoeve (Weltmeyer II x Lurano)," Smeets said, "but we want to build up a real stallion station. For now our focus lies on our newest purchase."

LikotoVechta's most beloved Belgian couple, Angelique Hostyn and Henri Henraey, travelled to the 2003 Oldenburg Stallion Licensing with buying one interesting colt as their goal. "We want to build up a nice dressage stable and stallion station, so we wanted to see what Vechta had to offer," Hostyn said. Angelique already owns the licensed Royal Jubilee (Rohdiamant x Andiamo x Welt As).

In Vechta, Hostyn and Henraey purchased a delightful Sandro Hit x Donnerhall colt who is pitch black and a very elegant and rhythmical mover. Also piquing their interest was a black Likoto xx x Rubinstein x Ramino colt. Although their intention was only to buy one stallion, Hostyn and Henraey were equally fascinated by the Likoto xx, as he is bred out of Sandro Hit and Diamond Hit's dam. "We believe that the Likoto and the Sandro Hit colts are very unique for the Belgian breeding market because there are no stallions up for stud in Belgium with these renowned bloodlines," Hostyn explained.

With three top quality dressage stallions and several well bred Oldenburg sport horses in her barn, Angelique Hostyn has not only shown that she has an excellent taste for dressage horses, but she is also able to score with them. Roycroft finished second at the Belgian Young Horse Championships and Ragtime Princess qualified for the 2003 World Young Horse Championships in Verden, Germany.
