|
Riding Herman van den Broeck's Belgian warmblood gelding On the Rocks, De Deken won the first dressage round, placed fourth the second dressage round, finished fifth and fourth in the show jumping rounds and ranked overall first with 808 points total. She beat Wim Grauwels aboard Quickborn, who jumped the best final round show jumping, but had a 798 points total. In third place was Jan Moens with Senver A with 791 points. "It has been eight years since Julie last jumped a horse," mother Brigitte De Deken said proudly, "and there were fifty combinations in total." The incredibly talented Julie De Deken is trained by Arlette Holsters and has two fantastic junior riders dressage horses at her disposal: Romero, a Ramiro Z offspring, and the phenomenal Hanoverian Widor.
