| Bundeschampionesse Arastou "S"
Arastou
"S" is a gorgeously looking dressage pony, that moves like an angelic princess
with her light feeted paces. Only seven years old, Arastou "S" has achieved
more than any other sport mare of her age and she still has a whole life
ahead of her. In the ownership of breeder Stöter and ridden by Andrea
Tietze, Arastou "S" came into the spotlight at age 3. This black mare of
superb conformation easily earned an entry for the prestigious German Championships
for Young Dressage horses and ponies (Bundeschampionate). In October 1995
Arastou "S" came, saw and conquered her age class in the dressage pony
mares' and geldings' division. One year later she defended her title again
at the Warendorf Equestrian Centre, the home base of the German Olympic
Team riders. Not only did Arastou "S" reclaim her number one position as
Pony Dressage Champion, but the Hanoverian verband also awarded her the
States Premium Mare title. By winning the championships twice and by giving
birth to an award winning colt the Hanoverian association granted Arastou
"S" the St. Pr. St. abbreviation to be put in front of her name. That same
colt, which gave her the title, became an approved Hanoverian pony breeding
stallion in 1999.
It was in 1996 that Arastou "S" drew the attention of the Belgian Volders
family. daughter Hannelore Volders had already competed at FEI pony level
with her white gelding Prins Farid, but her ambitions were big, and they
set sight on a pony with an huge amount of potential. Arastou "S" was the
perfect match and after the German championships the black mare moved to
Belgium. The 5 year old Arastou "S" rapidly progressed with Hannelore controlling
the reins and the combination impressed judges and audience in their FEI
pony tests (Third level). Hannelore and Arastou "S" became part of the
Belgian Pony Dressage Team for the 1997 European Championships in Hartpury,
England.
1998 was the year of astonishing progress. Arastou "S" appeared to be
more matured and
Hannelore gained experience at various national and international events.
It began by sweeping all victories at the CDA international competition
in Luxembourg where they hit 69.60% in the L9 test and took the lead. Placing
second behind Belgian Champion Delphine Meiresonne,
Hannelore and Arastou "S" received the top score of 69.03% at the CDN Zwijnaarde.
A few months later the pair won the national show in Duffel scoring round
65% and one month after that event they ruled Dressage in Schaffen (66.67
and 67.67%). Again part of the Belgian Pony Team at the 1998 European Pony
Championships in Le Touquet, France, Hannelore scored 64% in the FEI Preliminary
Test entering the top twenty of Europe's best pony riders. One month later
the combination received the silver medal at the Belgian Dressage Championships
by scoring a solid 65%.
Hannelore became 16 in 1999 and that meant her last year riding shows
with her pony had come round. To end their career in beauty the pair rode
an excellent season. Arastou "S" and Hannelore got selected for the CDI-P
in Hagen, Germany and the CDI-P in Hickstead, England, where they placed
fifth with 67.11% in the Team Championship Test and sixth with 66.13% in
the Individual Test. In July 1999 Arastou "S" entered her third European
Pony Championships which were organized in Stromsholm, Sweden. The mare
came back from her long trip to Sweden with a sore hoof. After a vet check
Arastou "S" appeared to have had a bad hoof trim and the nail of one of
her irons was hit wrongly into her hoof. The vet removed the iron and the
soreness was gone within a week. A regretful farrier accident, which gave
Arastou "S" the permission only to ride the preliminary test at the Euro
Championships in Sweden (she scored 63.41%). Back in excellent shape Arastou
"S" will defend her silver position at the upcoming 1999 Belgian Pony Dressage
Championships in Bruges, Belgium, after which she will be sold. |
