"Belgian Championship for Grand Prix
riders"
The Belgian Champions for Grand Prix riders has been one,
which could be predicted by a three
year old child. Arlette Holsters is the best GP rider and she is the rightfull
winner. Also Ann d'Ieteren, who placed second, deserved the silver medal.
Her first test was OK, and her second test was very good. Third place though
has been a true dishonoust fight. Evelyne Van Beuningen claimed the bronze
medal and her scores were agreable. But Ludo Verbraeken, a rider who rode
on an equal level with Ms. Van Beuningen received 59% from the foreign
judges, while one Belgian judge thought that his test was only a 54% worthy.
By this, his average score dropped so low to 57.36% that he was bound to
be fourth. What went wrong, I don't know, but I know one thing. Ludo Verbraeken's
test contained some errors in the piaffe- passage transitions and his tempi
changes every stride weren't perfect, but why would he get 59% of the judges
who never have seen Ludo compete, and why did the Belgian judge give him
54%??. I do not want to say that Ludo should have won the bronze, I'm just
referring to the great differences of opinion between the judges. Especially
the difference between foreign and national judges.
(the group of judges were: Meersmans - Otten - Mouw (The
Netherlands) - Hermecke (Germany) - Collard (France).
